NJ Trout in the Classroom on Snapfish!

NJ TIC has a Snapfish group page that lets us share photos.

Snapfish.com is an online photo store that offers a tremendous variety of products including very reasonable photos that you can upload and have processed to pick up a a choice of local stores like Walgreen’s, etc. or wait for in the mail. They offer free photos if you recommend someone. 

Basically, you create a free account with a name and password.  Then upload photos from your computer or camera into files that are stored on their website.  It doesn’t take long to do.  You can even edit your photos there.  As you know, the higher the resolution, the better.  They let you know when the photo isn’t good enough.  Under the “Stationary” category they offer a variety of layouts and types of notebooks.  You make your choice and follow a series of steps to arrange the photos and also type if you choose. It’s really easy.  They have you proof your order before you actually order. You can use a credit card, but I think they accept Paypal also.

In the classroom, we just started using our “Official TIC Journal” (see the photo that’s attached) to record our chemical test results and behavioral observations, and also to make a list of after school helpers.  Everyone who puts in their own time gets another chance in the “fishbowl” that I use as a lottery game to choose who gets to go on the field trip.  I’m limited to about 6 students per class, so I find this to be a fair way to make choices.  The kids who really want to go end up putting in a lot of time and learn a tremendous amount more that our regular classroom TIC sessions.

What I really love about this project is that it never gets boring. There’s always new things to do and try.
