Swimming fry!

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

After a long wait, our fry have all started swimming! My students are far more interested in the defects of some of the trout though. Watching the mutant trout get selected out of the population has been interesting for all of the kids, and really ties in to our natural selection, and evolution chapter.

Kids love the mutants! Most, if not all schools now have free swimming fry which are beginning to feed on size “0″ food. Remember to review your “TIC Unfolds” document listed here under RESOURCES to look at ammonia issues which will begin to become a factor as we feed our fish. Always remember to remove dead fish and uneaten food as best you can to reduce ammonia spikes!
