We have received numerous questions about vibert boxes, what they are and how they work. We have a source for these that place their cost at only $2.00 each plus S&H. These boxes, used for years to egg stock streams and rivers, have several features. The eggs are placed in the top compartment and the box is then wieghted to the bottom of the tank (or river). As the eggs hatch, the sac fry drop into the lower compartment where they remain until they have absorbed their egg sacks. Notice the smaller holes on the bottom of the lower compartment. Just above the small holes, but still within the lower compartment, are larger holes. Once the hatchlings have absorbed their egg sacks and become free swimming, they simply leave through one of the larger holes and into their new environment.
